Eckart Hoffmann is a German patent attorney and as representative before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). He is one of the founding partners of MERH-IP.
He was admitted as German Patent Attorney in 1973 and practices all aspects of intellectual property law with particular emphasis on the technical fields of electrical, electronical and mechanical engineering, particularly: computer hardware and software, digital signal processing, telecommunications, semiconductor technology, power semiconductor elements, power electronic converters, variable frequency drives, liquid crystal devices, radio and TV equipment, automobiles including control systems for internal combustion engines, optics.
In addition to extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent, trademark and design applications, Eckart′s experience also extends to patent litigation and licensing matters.
He holds a diploma in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig from which he graduated in 1968. Following this he joined Siemens AG in Braunschweig for two years (1968-1970) as an engineer and was mainly involved in the development of data processing equipment for automatic railway control systems.
